Frequently asked questions
Yes. RO is highly effective because it removes many dissolved substances—including naturally occurring calcium and magnesium. Hidro+ therefore goes beyond basic RO purification by reintroducing a carefully selected blend of minerals after the water has been purified.
Municipal treatment is designed to produce water that meets public drinking-water standards. RO provides an additional point-of-use purification barrier and can reduce many dissolved salts, metals and other substances that simpler filters may not remove. It also provides greater consistency where source-water quality varies. However, purifying water through RO is only the first step in creating healthier and better quality drinking water.
Remineralisation improves the mineral profile, taste and balance of purified water. It transforms highly purified but mineral-depleted RO water into more healthy, enjoyable everyday drinking water. While your overall mineral requirements should still be met mainly through a balanced diet, drinking the right water can greatly contributes to proper hydration and overall health.
“Structured water” generally refers to water that has passed through a physical conditioning process intended to influence how its molecules temporarily organise and move. Hidro+ incorporates structuring as an additional water-conditioning step after purification. Although research into specific human-health benefits remains limited, some studies do indicate positive results.
Many people choose structured water because they prefer its taste, feel and natural-water concept. Hidro+ combines this process with proven purification and remineralisation technologies. The measurable foundation of the solution remains cleaner, properly treated and better-tasting drinking water.
Not necessarily. Bottled waters differ in their source, purification process, mineral content, storage conditions and packaging. A sealed bottle may offer convenience, but the label and supplier matter. Hidro+ focuses on clearly defined purification, structuring and remineralisation processes rather than relying on packaging alone.
Hidro+ follows a multi-stage water-wellness approach: purifying the water, conditioning or structuring it, and then restoring selected minerals. The objective is not simply to remove unwanted substances, but to deliver healthy, clean, balanced and pleasant-tasting water for everyday use.
A slightly alkaline pH can make water taste smoother, but pH alone does not determine whether water is healthy or safe. The body tightly regulates its own blood pH, and drinking alkaline water does not meaningfully “alkalise” the body. Purity, mineral balance and consistent quality are more important considerations.
Municipal treatment plants were primarily designed to remove suspended material and disease-causing microorganisms – not every modern pharmaceutical or microscopic organic chemical. Removal varies according to the compound and treatment process. Some substances are substantially reduced, while others can persist in treated wastewater.
Studies have detected natural and synthetic oestrogens, together with oestrogen-mimicking chemicals such as BPA and phthalates, in municipal distribution water from Pretoria and Cape Town. The measured levels were low and the study’s risk assessment found “acceptable health risks”, but their presence demonstrates that conventional treatment does not necessarily remove every trace of endocrine-active compounds.
Yes. Municipal compliance focuses on specified microbiological, chemical and physical parameters. Researchers can now detect pharmaceuticals, hormones, pesticides, plastic-related chemicals and other emerging contaminants at extremely low concentrations. Detecting a substance does not automatically mean the water is unsafe, but it does show that “compliant” does not always mean completely free of contaminants.
Testing is advisable when water changes in colour, taste or smell; after repeated interruptions; or when it comes from a borehole, tank or uncertain source. Borehole water can look perfectly clear while still containing microorganisms, excessive minerals, nitrates or other dissolved contaminants.
Yes. Understanding the source water is the best starting point for selecting an effective solution. Hidro+ can assess relevant water-quality factors and recommend the appropriate combination of filtration, purification, conditioning and remineralisation technologies.
The correct system depends on your water source, existing water quality, household or business consumption, available space and the contaminants you want to reduce. Hidro+ assesses these factors before recommending a suitable domestic, commercial or specialised solution.
Yes. Hidro+ provides solutions for homes, offices, schools, clinics, hospitality establishments and other commercial applications. Systems can be tailored to the required water volume, source-water quality and the purpose for which the treated water will be used.
