Free Drinking-Water Quality Indication Test

Hidro+ offers a quick, free test to provide an initial indication of the overall quality of water used for drinking and cooking. The test takes approximately 10 minutes and measures two important water characteristics:

  • pH level: Indicates whether the water is acidic, neutral or alkaline – an important characteristic of drinking-water quality.
  • Total Dissolved Solids (TDS): Measures the dissolved substances in the water, which may include both unwanted impurities and desirable minerals.

The pH and TDS levels are measured using specialised electronic instruments, without adding chemicals to the water.

Making Dissolved Substances Visible

A controlled electric current is introduced into the water sample, causing reactions that make certain dissolved substances visible.

During this process, impurities may appear as scum or residue on the surface, while minerals that oxidise may cause the water to change colour. Different colours can indicate different minerals, and a darker colour generally indicates a higher mineral content.

For example, Hidro+ mineralised water may turn black during the demonstration due to its high mineral content. Because the minerals have been infused into the water, they remain integrated with it and do not continue precipitating in the same manner as unwanted dissolved impurities.

This demonstration provides a practical indication of dissolved substances in the sample and allows water to be compared before and after filtration.

Is the Quick Test Sufficient?

In many cases, the test—together with information about the water source – is sufficient to help determine:

  • Which filtration system may be most suitable;
  • Whether additional treatment may be required; or
  • Whether an existing filtration system is working effectively.

Where the precise chemical or microbiological composition of the water must be determined, Hidro+ may recommend a comprehensive laboratory analysis.

Free, No-Obligation Consultation

Over the years, Hidro+ has seen many people lose money by choosing the wrong filtration system. Municipal, rain and borehole water can present very different challenges, which is why professional advice is essential before purchasing or installing a system.

During your free consultation, a Hidro+ design engineer will consider your water source, test results, intended water use, consumption requirements and existing filtration or storage equipment. This helps ensure that the recommended solution is suitable for your specific situation—with no obligation to purchase.

Hidro+ Filtration Solutions

Hidro+ offers several solutions that can be tailored to your requirements:

  • Whole-House Super-Filter for municipal or rainwater, with or without a backup water-storage system;
  • Whole-House Super-Filter for borehole or rainwater, with or without a backup water-storage system;
  • Kitchen Super-Filter, an affordable and effective option for water used for drinking, cooking and food preparation; and
  • Caravan Super-Filter, a new-generation solution for filtered drinking, cooking and shower water while camping, caravanning or travelling in the bush.
